The junior class of Newport High School hosted The Great Gatsby Prom on March 15 th, 2025. It was a night of extravagance and timeless romance where the past met the present in the most dazzling way possible. The event was held at The Vault 1916 in downtown Newport. The evening began with the Senior Walk at 6:30 pm followed by prom festivities at 7 pm. The decorations help transport those in attendance back in time to the roaring 1920s, where the elegance of the Jazz Age meant a dazzling night of glitz, glamour, and golden opulence.
The Vault was the perfect location for the 2025 Great Gatsby Prom. They partied like in 1922!
Having been built in the early 1900s, if the walls could talk, they would have shouted with
excitement loving the evening as much as the Newport juniors and seniors. The decorations
consisted of Art Deco patterns, shimmering gold and black décor, and multiple areas for photo opportunities to capture the night’s memories. It was an unforgettable evening of dancing and celebration.

The young ladies wore stylish prom gowns, and the gentlemen looked sharp in tuxedoes. Each embodying the sophistication of the era. The dining tables featured gold sequined runners, tall stands with feather arrangements and a plethora of candles twinkling in the night. The meal was catered by the local El Puente Mexican Restaurant. A senior slide show played during dinner accompanied by laughs and reminiscing. The dance floor was alive with the latest dances to modern hits played by DJ Ice Tre as the 360-degree camera captured all.

The junior class of NHS worked endlessly raising money for the magnificent evening. They sold homecoming shirts, butter braids and held a 50/50 raffle. The winners of the raffle included Tara Salinas, John Pennington, and John Conner, Jr. Modern Woodmen generously matched the fundraising efforts to make the night possible.

The weeks leading up to prom night included a Prom Fashion Show Sunday, February 16th at The Vault with fashion from Jessica’s Bridal and Formal of Bay and Men N’ Black Suits and
Tuxedos of Jonesboro. In addition, many of the
young ladies spent time creating beautiful
bouquets at Palomino Petals and 2 Chicks Florist.
